MinimOSD is an OSD based on Arduino. This is specially designed for flight control of ArduPilot MEGA and MAVlink protocols
Its main components are an Arduino ATmega328 MCU and a MAX7456 monochrome screen overlay chip. Programming is via a FTDI compatible 6-pin connector
It features two independent power supply and ground part isolated OSD function simulation stages: a 5V part ATMEGA and a 5V part OSD function digital stage, which supplies power through FTDI cables or other 5V sources; The analog phase of the OSD function with a regulated voltage of 5 V can handle up to+12 V input power supply through the video/output connector. Welding jumper, power supply and ground are combined, if necessary.
MinimOSD adopts a high cost and high efficiency DC-DC regulator, which is not comparable to the old v0.1 from other manufacturers. The original version of the official v0.1 uses a linear voltage regulator. When it is powered independently, 12V input will cause very serious heating. Although parallel power supply can solve the heating problem, it also brings two other problems: increasing the power supply pressure of flight control and noise from signals.
MAVLink OSD cancels the single power supply mode selection jumper and completely uses the isolated dual power supply mode for operation.
