TYPE-C RF Power Meter (RF-Power-Meter-V7.0)
1. Product Overview
The RF-Power-Meter-V7.0 series is a high-performance and cost-effective portable TYPE-C simple RF power meter. It is powered by 5V through the TYPE-C port and enables high-speed data communication. It is easy to use, compact, portable, stable in performance, highly accurate, and features preset bias, wide dynamic range, and fast measurement speed. The software with this power meter allows users to configure the power meter on a PC and simplifies data recording and sharing.
Advantages of RF-Power-Meter-V7.0 RF Power Meter
- Supports multiple high-speed dynamic acquisitions, with a maximum of 500kbps (2μS) for host computer acquisition.
- Supports RF signal acquisition up to 10GHz.
- Has a built-in digital programmable attenuator (0 - 31.75DB). When used with the digital control attenuator, the maximum measured input power is 30dBm (1W), and the dynamic range is from +30dBm to -60dBm.
- The V7.0 power meter comes with a 1.3-inch TFT LCD and a built-in Li battery, enabling offline operation.
- Uses a 4-pin aviation plug to provide TTL serial port read and write functions, and offers single-shot and continuous data reading modes.
- The host computer has 2 MARK cursor functions, facilitating the measurement of modulation pulse width; it can automatically calculate the maximum and minimum values, with a maximum storage depth of 500 points; it also supports pause, data saving, and export functions.
- The RF input interface is an N-type male connector.
- Booting process: Check if the battery switch is in the ON position, then press the middle button on the panel, and finally, long-press and slide the right arrow key.
- Shutdown process: Long-press the middle button to turn off the device.
2. Product Applications
- Calibration of RF instrumentation.
- Detection and maintenance of RF equipment.
- Measurement of standing wave ratio in RF circuits (with the addition of a feedback bridge).
- Measurement of return loss in RF circuits.
- Detection of interference between wireless communication devices.
- Detection of RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) and transmitted power levels.
- Performance evaluation of step attenuators.
- Measurement of amplifier gain and network attenuation.
- Measurement of forward and reflected power in directional couplers.
- Power measurement of GSM signals modulated by GMSK*.
3. Product Technical Specifications
- Measurement power range: -60 to +30dBm (excellent linearity from 0 to -40dBm. When the input signal is greater than 0 to +30dBm, the internal digital control attenuator can be set as ATT = 30DB and OFFSET = +30DB, and the measured power value will be displayed after actual measurement).
- Measurement power resolution: ±0.1dBm.
- Measurement frequency range: 100K - 10GHz (the frequency range varies for different models).
- Input impedance: 50Ω.
- Dynamic range: 90dB.
- Operating voltage: 5VDC (powered by a TYPE-C cable).
- Charging current: 300mA.
- Dimensions: 66*36*24mm (excluding the protruding N-type connector; refer to the provided mechanical drawing for details). The body is made of a fully numerically controlled aluminum alloy shell, and the weight is less than 100g.
- Shipping list: 1 host with an aluminum alloy shell + 1 TYPE-C cable.
-
TFT display information instructions:
- Freq: Frequency setting. This data is input via buttons and is used to calibrate the detection error at different frequencies, not the value measured by the power meter.
- Power: Measured power value in units of W.
- dBm is defined as miliwatt. 0dBm = 1mw.
- dBW is defined as watt. 0dBW = 10lg1W = 10lg1000mw = 30dBm.
- ATT: Value of the internal digital control attenuator of the power meter. The attenuation range is 0 to 31.75DB. This value needs to be set when measuring signals greater than 0dBm to improve measurement accuracy.
-
Offset: Linear offset setting value.
- First function: When ATT is set, the offset needs to be set through offset.
- Second function: Calibrate the interface error.
- Third function: If an external amplifier or a standard signal source is added, the relative error can be set using this value.
- 95% internal lithium battery power reminder, IC000 machine internal address.
4. Host Computer Communication Mode (In the high-speed mode of the host computer, the TFT LCD and TTL serial port communication are unavailable)
The host computer interface of USB-RF-Power-Meter-VS, including functions such as automatically calculating maximum and minimum values, MARK point measurement, waveform stop, clear, reset, cursor measurement values, power display in different units, sampling rate display, port setting, frequency setting, offset setting, data sending, reading, display, and export]
5. Offline Mode (When not using the high-speed mode of the host computer, the TFT LCD and TTL serial port communication are used for data display and transmission)
5.1. Set the baud rate of the serial port assistant to 115200 (add a carriage return when sending commands with the serial port assistant).
5.2. IC001+: Commands R (query power), T (stop power sending), X (query set values), L (send power data at low speed), S (send power data at high speed).
5.2. IC001+: Commands R (query power), T (stop power sending), X (query set values), L (send power data at low speed), S (send power data at high speed).
- Example: IC001+S: Send data every 10ms.
6.3. IC+SAVE+001+002: Change the IC address, with the old address first and the new address second.
6.4. IC001+W±02.2+01.25+1000: Data modification, which are (you can choose the plus or minus sign) OFFSET value + ATT value + FREQ value respectively. - If the ATT value does not follow a 0.25-step entry, the lower computer only takes the value before the decimal point. For example, if 03.89 is input, the lower computer will only store the ATT value as 03.00.
Examples: Baud rate is 115200, and all commands must end with a "carriage return".
-
IC000+R
- Note: The default IC address of the machine is 000, and the end symbol is "carriage return". To read the power value, the returned data is:
- Level: 60.8 dBm
- Power: 000.00 uW
-
IC000+X
- ATT (fixed attenuator value): 00.00 dB
- FREQ (frequency value): 800 MHz
- OFFSET (offset): -00.0
-

- IC000+L: Upload low-speed data directly (upload one data every 0.5S).
- IC000+S: Upload high-speed data directly (upload one data every 1mS).
- IC000+T: This command is required to stop the upload of low-speed or high-speed data, and the return is USART_Stop:0.
-
IC000+W-10.0+20.25+0800
